Carson City sheriff's patrol vehicle clipped in vehicle pursuit, teen in custody
A 17-year-old juvenile male was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and other offenses early Monday morning after a pursuit in which a patrol vehicle was clipped, a Carson City Sheriff's Office sergeant said.
No injuries were reported. The incident began after 4 a.m. in the area of Winnie and North Carson Street. Officers learned the juvenile took a vehicle, which belonged to his parents, following an argument, said CCSO Sgt. David LeGros. Officers located the vehicle and attempted to make a traffic stop, which the juvenile driver of the vehicle continued without stopping.
Deputies followed the vehicle with lights and sirens. The suspect vehicle didn't have its headlights on. As speed became a serious safety issue, the pursuit was called off, said Sgt. LeGros.
Later, a vehicle matching the suspect's vehicle, was seen near a north Carson Street RV park. As it was leaving, it clipped the front end of a patrol vehicle, said LeGros.
The officer in the vehicle turned back on their lights and sirens and followed the suspect vehicle, which didn't stop, until it got to Moses Street, off of Curry Street, where it reached a dead end. The vehicle was blocked in, and the juvenile suspect was taken into custody at around 4:45 a.m.
The suspect faces a DUI charge among other offenses associated with the pursuit.
