NHP identifies California man who died in July 25 Esmeralda County accident
The Nevada Highway Patrol has identified a California man who died in a vehicle accident that happened Wednesday, July 25, on US Highway 6 in Esmeralda County.
Jose Franchesco Tepoz, 38, Boron, Calif., died on the scene of injuries sustained in the crash, according to NHP Trooper Matthew McLaughlin. At approximately 6:45 p.m. NHP troopers responded the accident on US-6 at mile marker 2 in Esmeralda County, approximately 16 miles west of Coaldale Junction.
Preliminary investigation shows that a white 2000 Ford F-150 pickup was traveling eastbound on US-6 toward Coaldale Junction.
The driver of the F-150, Tepoz, allowed the vehicle to travel off the right side of the roadway, striking a reflective highway marker post. The driver turned to the left causing the pickup to re-enter the highway and travel across both the eastbound and westbound travel lanes.
The pickup struck a second reflective highway marker post and overturned on the westbound shoulder of US-6. The driver was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected as the F-150 overturned.
NHP seeks anyone who witnessed the accident or has any information regarding this collision. They are asked to contact Trooper Steven Darnell of the Nevada Highway Patrol, Tonopah Substation at (775) 482-6330 or sdarnell@dps.state.nv.us NHP Case #180702458.
