Carson City Senior Center offers classes to improve muscle strength, balance
The Carson City Senior Center is hosting a free Tai Ji Quan Program: Moving for Better Balance which improves muscle strength, balance, flexibility, and mobility as well as reducing risk of falls among older adults.
Free 12-week course taught by the UNR Cooperative Extension will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting August 2, and ending October 6 from 3pm to 4pm at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive, in the Joshua Tree room. Please call to reserve a space (775) 883-0703.
Also offered is Dance-Fit and Yoga Flow. Instructor SR Steele is 77 years old, a former school teacher, dancer/choreographer and certified yoga teacher. She will share what she knows about benefits of group exercise.
Classes at the Carson Senior Center, Nevada Room are mainly for those over 50 and no fee is charged. Yoga Flow – asanas, movements that transition from one to the next, choreographed to pleasant music — each class is 55 min. on Mondays and Thursdays 1 p.m., re-starting August 1st.
DANCEFIT joyful moves to ‘oldies’ music is once a week at 2 pm on Thursdays starting August 4th, same place as Yoga Flow, at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Dr, Carson City.
Movie Club
The Carson City Senior Center is hosting a FREE monthly movie on the August 9 (every 2nd Tuesday of the month) at 1pm. Movies are held in the Nevada Room at the Carson City Senior Center at 911 Beverly Drive. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks and a light sweater. Due to copyright restrictions, movie titles cannot be advertised however you can call the Senior Center at (775) 883-0703 for a list of showings.
