The Mike Tice Foundation charity weekend tees off ‘for the kids’
For ten years, The Mike Tice Foundation has brought donors from across the country to the Carson Valley in support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. This past weekend, July 15-17, the event was back to raise critical funds for the youth of Carson Valley.
The Charity Weekend “For the Kids” included a football clinic with Coach Tice & Friends at the Carson Valley Boys & Girls Club. Ray and Brenda Robertson of Carson Valley provided shoes for nearly 100 kids in the clinic, and Chicago Mike’s provided food for the day.
The golf tournament, held at Genoa Lakes, was also a part of the weekend. In addition to nearly 100 local golfers, friends of Coach Tice, including Hall of Fame defensive back Rod Woodson and legendary linebacker Bryan Cox teed off in the tourney. The team with the lowest net score was Joe Bourdeau, Kelly Bourdeau, Rich Lightle and Russ Browne.
Hannah Stigall, Special Event Coordinator for The Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada was thrilled to have people back together for this event.
"We have individuals who travel from New York, Florida, Minnesota, and Washington every year to support our small community. Some have been coming every year for a decade. In addition, our local community really stepped up in a major way, sponsoring events, golfing and donating items for the auction. It was amazing to see everyone again, especially after having to cancel the event in 2020," she said.
Coach Mike Tice echoed Stigall’s enthusiasm, saying, "It's so important that we give whatever we can, whether that's time or money, to make sure the next generation has the tools they need to be successful. It's a blessing that we get to reunite with old friends and have some fun while supporting such important work."
