Carson City arrests: Man accused of taking cell phone away from woman he allegedly hit

A 58-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of felony preventing a victim from reporting a crime and misdemeanor domestic battery, according to a Carson City sheriff's booking report.

Christopher Diesner was arrested at 7:25 p.m. following an investigation of an incident at a North Lompa Lane apartment. According to the booking report, deputies responded for a report of domestic battery. Dispatch advised a female called crying and stated that her boyfriend keeps hitting her.

Deputies arrived and made contact with the suspect, who walked toward the officer and stated he was involved in the altercation with his girlfriend, and stated that during the altercation he threw a plate of food, but denied throwing the plate at the victim, according to the report.

The man let the officer inside the residence, where the deputy observed food scattered on the floor in the kitchen. While speaking with the man, the deputy could smell a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person, the report states.

Deputies spoke with the victim who stated there was an argument that started between she and the suspect. She stated the two argued over him wanting her to eat his food. She told the officer she had her own food, top ramen, and she was preparing it for herself. She stated the man hit her, twice with an open hand in the face. The deputy observed red discoloration on both sides of her face. On the left side of her cheek the officer observed dark discoloration similar to a bruise, the report states.

She stated that she tried to call 911 and when doing so Diesner grabbed the phone out of her hands, breaking the front screen. She stated she was able to get the phone back and with a broken screen called 911 for help, the arrest report says.

Deputies spoke with a witness who resides in the apartment who stated they heard the victim screaming "get back," "stay away," "stop hitting me" and "help," the report states. The witness attempted to intervene outside, standing in between the victim and the suspect. The witness stated the suspect told them "its not a good idea to tangle with me," the report states.

During a followup interview with the suspect, he denied hitting the victim and made multiple comments about bail amounts, the report states.

When the officer told him he was being arrested for domestic battery and preventing a victim from calling 911, the man's behavior changed. He threatened to wrestle with deputies and then made vulgar statements about the wives of deputies, the report states.

When he arrived at jail he continued to fight with deputies, and stated he was going to spit on them. A deputy asked him why he would do such a thing. The suspect told the officer: "because it is bodily fluids; you don't know what I have," the arrest report states. He also threatened to burn down the apartment. Bail: $8,137.
