Horse assisted education comes to Carson Valley; Gaia Gathering hosts open house Sunday
Specializing in Corporate Leadership and Team Building, The Horse Dream Program is an international corporate training program that uses horses for team building and leadership retreats.
“Our non-profit organization, Gaia Gathering, is finally ready to bring Horse-Assisted Education to the corporate realm as we introduce horses as mirrors for bringing employees out of the office and into nature to develop team building, leadership skills, and emotional intelligence,” says Melinda Starr, owner of Gaia Gathering.
Gaia Gathering’s primary facility is located in Carson Valley at Starr Horse Retreats and Arenas, where they offer equine-assisted healing modalities. Through exercises, participants explore emotional intelligence skills for mindful decision-making and past grief healing.
These modalities include sound healing and guided meditations in the barn, equine theater and ecstatic dancing with horses in the arenas, barnyard yoga, animal Reiki and massage, sweat lodge, flower bath, and positive reinforcement ridership workshops and clinics.
“My husband, Ric Johnson, and I recently moved from San Francisco and bought this dilapidated equestrian facility in Minden 2 years ago. We have been busy restoring all the outbuildings and hosting holistic healing retreats,” says Starr. “Now that the construction is done, we are joining the Horse Dream program, an international corporate training program that uses horses for team building and leadership retreats.”
The Open House will include a grazing table by Chef Catalina for guests to enjoy during practitioner introductions, as well as mint juleps, non-alcoholic whiskey tasting flights, and mocktails. Guests will also be able to explore the facilities and feed carrots to herd of healing horses.
“We are excited to begin partnering with Ileana Vassiliou, the founder of Creating Effective Organizations,” says Starr. “She has been hosting corporate team building and leadership retreats for decades. She will be joining Gaia Gathering and Horse Dream to integrate horses with her existing program.”
This Open House event is open to the public, 2801 Tamara Ct, Minden, NV. Learn more about Gaia Gathering at Gaiagathering.org. Learn more about Horse Dream USA at https://www.horsedream.us/.
