Child falls out of raft into Carson River, taken to hospital by Carson City fire and rescue
A two-year-old boy fell out of a raft in the Carson River near Brunswick Canyon tonight and was transported to Carson Tahoe Hospital.
The condition of the boy is unknown. According to emergency dispatch and personnel at the scene, the child was unconscious but was breathing at the time of the rescue and subsequent transport to the hospital.
Carson City Fire Department Chief Stacey Giomi said emergency crews were called at around 5:10 tonight. He said emergency personnel spoke with the parents of the child who said the boy fell out of a raft and was found face down in the water. The parents rescued the child from the water and CPR was administered until rescue personnel and Carson City Sheriff's officials arrived on the scene.
There was a call for Care Flight but it was determined to transport the child by ambulance, according to dispatch scanner traffic on the scene.
The Carson River is flowing tonight at about 94 cubic feet per second.
