Carson City Historical Society presents fashion exhibits and more at historic Foreman-Roberts House Sundays
The Carson City Historical Society will be hosting ongoing events every Sunday at the historic Foreman-Roberts House and Carriage House located at 1207 North Carson in Carson City.
The Roberts House and Carriage House are open Sundays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
The If Gowns Could Talk exhibit is currently taking place within the Foreman-Roberts House. This exhibition covers everything fashion — at least within the Edwardian and Victorian styles. Learn the how and why of these fashions, along with why women left their corsets behind, along with a photographic exhibit of early Carson City as early as 1900!
If you are interested in volunteering for this exhibit, the Carson City Historical Society is currently seeking new volunteers. Call (775) 882-2174 for more information.
Inside the Carriage House, attendees can find the exhibit Notable Women of Eagle Valley, a display of paintings of “Notable Women done by local Notable artists.”
Also on exhibit is a display of the Nevada State Children’s Home as well as a book written by Bonnie Nishikawa called “My Life as a Home Kid.”
Finally, there is a display of the History of Hats from the 1920s and 1930s on display at the Carriage House which is on loan from longtime Historical Society member Jo Saulisberry.
The Carson City Historical Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that was formed in 1969 as The Nevada Landmarks Society to help save the Roberts House and other Landmarks from being demolished. Through volunteer efforts, the Foreman-Roberts House was saved. They changed our name in 2000 to become the Carson City Historical Society to better serve the public.
