Carson City community radio KNVC general manager Steve Funk to speak at Rotary meeting Tuesday, public invited
Members of the Rotary Club of Carson City will learn about the impact community radio stations have in their broadcast area. The public is invited to join the Rotarians at the club meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, when Steve Funk, KNVC’s General Manager, will talk with members about the station’s role in our community as well as the evolving landscape of media. KNVC airs on 95.1 FM in Carson City.
“Our station is volunteer driven,” Funk says. “Our hyper-local approach gives our community its own unique voice to enhance its sense of place. There is nothing else like it.”
Local residents provide the majority of programming on the station. Funk says the station strives to engage, inform and entertain its audience.
“Stations like ours makes communities safer, more connected, entertained and informed. We average 16 hours of locally produced programming a day.” He also says, the station welcomes more. “We encourage people to get involved by giving their time, sharing their perspective and passions by providing unique content, and donating resources to keep us relevant and sustainable.”
The meeting takes place tomorrow, Tuesday, July 18 at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom, 449 West King Street, Carson City. Anyone interested in attending should email carsoncitynvrotary@gmail.com.
