Carson City Fire Department called to gas leak on Carriage Crest

This is the time of year where we notice damage to landscape plants and lawns. We may immediately jump to the conclusion that a pest caused the problem. Amazingly, most problems are not caused by an insect or critter.

To reduce hazardous fuels on National Forest System and city-owned lands, sheep will be released on Friday, April 21, 2023, in the West Carson Fuels Project area located on the west side of Carson City. These sheep will consume cheatgrass and other non-native vegetation on Carson City Open Space and Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Carson Ranger District.

Carson City’s business climate is the topic at the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. Carson City Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ronni Hannaman will be the featured speaker at the Tuesday, April 25 meeting. The public is invited to attend the luncheon meeting that takes place at noon in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.

Carson High School named Jacob Xie and Deepti Arun as the 2023 Prom King and Queen. A short coronation ceremony was held Saturday during the Prom Dance.

Additionally, Hunter Curran and Emily Vicente were crowned Carson High School’s Friendship Ball King and Queen during that dance Thursday evening in the Morse Burley Gym.

In the meantime, Carson City FoodMaxx is reported to have increased their staffing over the weekend to deal with customer overflow.

Currently finishing up her senior year at Pioneer Academy, Faith is planning to attend Western Nevada College next year and would like to earn a degree in ecology and wildlife conservation.
