NV Energy: Power outage due to underground cable failure
An underground cable failure knocked out power to 121 NV Energy customers in Carson City early Thursday morning.
NV Energy spokesman Carl Walquist said the problem area originated on Goldfield Avenue. Crews had to install a temporary above-ground cable to serve customers while the underground cable was down. The underground cable will be repaired today, he said.
A Carson Now reader reports their power was out on Appaloosa Court just off Saliman from 12:30 a.m. until 4:30 a.m.
Walquist said the outage included the areas of Appaloosa Court and Goldfield Avenue. The work crew was able to get service restored to everyone by 4 a.m. with the exception of 10 customers who had their service returned at around 6 a.m.
There will likely be a brief outage when the underground cable repair is made today, Walquist said.
