Lyon County man accused of setting two fires Tuesday in Dayton
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office has made an arrest in two alleged arson fires Tuesday, July 4 in Dayton.
Jonah Watson, 26, of Dayton was taken into custody for allegedly starting two fires in Dayton on Tuesday. He was booked for two counts third degree arson and two counts reckless endangerment to the public.
Watson was previously arrested in December 2022 for similar circumstances, according to the Lyon County Sheriff's Office.
On Tuesday, July 4, 2023 Central Lyon County Fire and LCSO deputies responded to the area of 75 Pike Street in Dayton for a brush fire that was spreading rapidly and threatening multiple structures.
Central Lyon County Fire and multiple citizens with garden hoses were able to put the fire out before it spread to any structures, LCSO said in a news release.
A short time later, a second fire erupted near Dayton Valley Road and Ricci Road, threatening multiple residential structures and businesses.
During the course of the investigation at both fire locations, multiple witnesses observed Watson at the scene of both fires. Witness statements, along with evidence collected at the scene, determined Watson is the alleged person who set the fires. In December 2022, he was arrested for similar circumstances.
He is being held on $15,000 bail in connection to Tuesday's fires.
