Carson City Sheriff's Office: Kayakers missing; last seen in the Brunswick Canyon area
On Wednesday, July 5 the Carson City Sheriff’s Office was made aware that two people were missing. On July 2, two kayakers, identified as James Martin and Robert (Bobby) White, went to the Brunswick Canyon area in Carson City to kayak the Carson River.
They were expected to return the same day; however, there has been no contact with either since their departure. Their vehicle was located today, still in the canyon area, with no sign of James or Robert.
Search and Rescue is actively working in the canyon area, and the Sheriff’s Office is assisting with search efforts. Anyone with any information or knowledge of their whereabouts is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 775-887-2008.
James Martin is described as 5’09, 200lbs, and 59 years old. He has brown hair and brown eyes. Robert White is 5’08, 220lbs, and 52 years old. He has blonde hair and green eyes. See attached photos of the men above.
As a general safety reminder, the Carson area experienced a high volume of rain and snowfall this year, and Carson River waters are abnormally high and fast. Please avoid the area.
