Carson City weather: Sunny, hot and breezy conditions continue through July 4 holiday
Sunny, hot days are expected for Carson City and western Nevada region as high pressure gradually builds bringing dry conditions with it. Temperatures will continue to warm and remain above normal through the Tuesday, the July 4 holiday and beyond.
Winds will follow typical afternoon zephyr patterns with gusts generally 20-25 mph through Monday afternoon. The 4th of July holiday could see gusts up to 30 mph. These winds coupled with very dry conditions will present a marginal threat for fire weather, according to NWS forecasters.
The weather service advises people to avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry vegetation, such as yard work, off-roading, target shooting, or campfires. Remember to follow all local fire restrictions, especially for fireworks, which are illegal in the city, counties and on public lands surrounding western Nevada. For Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas, highs will be in the low to mid 90s through Wednesday. For the Lake Tahoe Basin, highs will be in the mid 80s.
