Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through July 6

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of June 30 through July 6. 2014. Snyder Avenue bridge is now open. The following lane closures will occur due to utility work:

— On Monday, June 30, a lane shift on Hot Springs Road from Carson Street to Roop Street and on Retail Drive/Retail Court on either side of College Parkway.
— On Tuesday, July 1, the northbound outside lane of Carson Street will be closed from Washington Street to Hot Springs Road.
— On Wednesday, July 2, the southbound outside lane of Carson Street will be closed from Musser Street to Second Street.
 
Vista Grande Boulevard will continue to be closed from Topsy Lane to Old Clear Creek Road with a signed detour. There will also be intermittent delays on Old Clear Creek Road near the intersection with Vista Grande Boulevard.
 
There will be road work on the section of Timberline Drive between both intersections with Prospect Drive.  This section will be open to local traffic only, and through traffic will be detoured onto Prospect Drive.
 
There will be lane closures on Potomac Street between Lexington and Saratoga on the weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be flagger-controlled traffic.
 
There will be street shoulder work on weekdays at the following locations.  Minimal — Combs Canyon Road and Meadow Wood Road in the Lakeview area.
— The north side of Morgan Mill Road between Empire Ranch Road and Deer Run Road

Currently underway, is a $6 million repave and restripe Nevada Department of Transportation project from Highway 50 from Arrowhead Drive in east Carson City to one mile east of the State Route 341 to the Virginia City intersection.
The majority of the construction work will take place during nighttime hours, with construction-related single lane closures and delays to be expected. Construction is scheduled to complete in the fall.

In Douglas County, work continues now through October on the Kingsbury Grade project along State Route 207 between Carson Valley and Lake Tahoe. The road is open with night work Sundays through Fridays, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. There will be single lane closures at night and intermittently during the day through the duration of the project, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Elsewhere around Lake Tahoe and the Sierra from June 30 through July 5:
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $41 million project from Tahoma to Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curb and gutter, resurface and realign the road, add new left-turn pockets and widen shoulders on a 9-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2016. 

State Route 89 (Placer County) from Wilson Avenue to Cathedral Drive: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations around the clock from 10 p.m. Sunday until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday for pavement and utility work.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work has started on a $4 million project from the "Y" junction of State Routes 28/89 in Tahoe City to Alpine Meadows Road making drainage and slope corrections on about a 4-mile stretch of Highway 89. Completion is expected this fall.

June 30-July 2: State Route 89 (Placer County) from the "Y" to Cedar Crest Avenue: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 10 p.m. Sunday to 8 a.m. Monday and from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. Monday through Wednesday for drainage work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2015.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Meeks Creek to Meek Bay Avenue: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday through Thursday for drainage work. Also, from Rubicon Glen Drive to 3 Ring Road, motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday and from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday for drainage work.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project will install curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $12.1 million water-quality and roadway improvement project from the "Y" intersection of Highways 50 and 89 to the South Lake Tahoe Airport adding curb and gutter, sidewalks, new drainage systems and repaving the highway. Completion is expected this fall.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Jewell Road North to F Street: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the No. 1 lane closed from midnight to 9 a.m. Monday, from 7 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Wednesday and from 7 p.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday for roadway excavation.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $15.3 million water-quality project from Johnson Pass Road to Incline Road in Meyers to install new drainage systems, widen shoulders and add bike lanes in one section, and restore a section of the exiting bike path.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Johnson Pass Road to Sawmill Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for drainage work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $7.67 million project to replace the bridge over Sly Park Road in Pollock Pines. The project will also add sidewalks to both sides of Sly Park Road, curb and gutter and curb ramps. Completion is expected this fall.

June 30-July 1: U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Sly Park Road: Motorists can expect the closure of Sly Park Road at the undercrossing from 9 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday for bridge work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $18.5 million project by El Dorado County to reconstruct the U.S. Highway 50 ramps to El Dorado Hills Boulevard and Latrobe Road in El Dorado Hills. Completion is expected this fall.

June 30-July 3: U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from  El Dorado Hills Blvd/Latrobe Road to the Carson Creek Bridge: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect various lane and ramp closures from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday for bridge work and K-rail installation.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project by El Dorado County to construct a new overcrossing over U.S. Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities at Silva Valley Parkway in El Dorado Hills. Completion is expected in 2016.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from El Dorado Hills Blvd/Latrobe Road to Bass Lake Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect a full highway closure from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Sunday and various lane and ramp closures from midnight to 9 a.m. Sunday for rock blasting.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Pedro Hill Road to Meadow View Acres Road in Pilot Hill: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for roadway excavation.

State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Meadow View Acres Road to Saint Florian Court in Cool: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for miscellaneous work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from the Alpine County line to the junction with U.S. Highway 50 in Meyers: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for paving preparation.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from the junction with State Route 49 to American River Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for miscellaneous work. 

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from Brace Road to Magra: Work is set to begin on the $36 million project to increase the vertical clearance for nine structures in south Placer County.  The vertical clearance will be increase on six structures by lifting the existing bridge deck and the other three will have the roadway below dug down to a lower level. Construction is expected to begin in mid July.

Interstate 80 (Placer and Nevada Counties) from Kingvale to Donner Pass Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect lane and shoulder closures at various locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do drainage repairs.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) from the junction with State Route 193 to Gold Run: Eastbound motorists can expect the No. 3 lane closed at various locations from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do maintenance.

Interstate 80 (Placer County) at State Route 49: Motorists can expect the southbound State Route 49 connector ramp to westbound I-80 closed from 9 a.m. to noon Monday. A Caltrans crew is scheduled to do guard rail repair.

State Route 89 (Placer and Nevada counties) from West River Street to Donner Creek:  Northbound and southbound motorists can expect the No. 1 lane closed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Wednesday. A contractor is scheduled to do utility work.
