Carson City man jailed for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation
A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Wednesday morning for suspicion of felony domestic battery with strangulation and preventing the victim from reporting a crime, a sheriff's deputy report says.
Mario Rameriz-Caberara was taken into custody at 5:50 a.m. following an incident that happened in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain Drive.
According to the arrest report, Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of domestic battery. The caller advised to dispatch that he had gotten into an argument with his girlfriend and that she was hitting him. The caller identified himself and told dispatch that he had an injury to his head and was bleeding profusely.
Deputies arrived and made contact with the man who wouldn't talk about what happened. He was taken to the hospital for treatment. Deputies made contact with the female victim who said the two had been arguing because he was out on bail and had been drinking all day, the report states.
The two argued over a phone and possession of the phone when she said he began punching her, threw her to the ground and then had his knee in her throat and choked her to the point where she believed she was about to pass out. Later she was able to get loose and said she hit him with a bench, the only thing that she could take hold of that was in the room, the report states.
She told deputies she was able to then grab her taser after the man came after her again and that she tasered him to get him to leave the residence. He remained in possession of her phone and would not give it back, the report states.
Deputies observed bruises to the right side of the victim's neck, a small cut to her right cheek and another small red mark on her left shoulder. There were red marks on her back that would be consistent with being knocked down onto the floor on her back. Photos were taken of her injuries.
Deputies went to the hospital where Rameriz-Caberra was being treated for injuries and arrested him for suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation and preventing a victim from reporting a crime, both felonies. Bail: $15,000.
