Carson City investigators say Sunday's townhouse fire classified as arson
The Carson City Sheriff's Office and fire department investigators say Sunday night's structure fire at a vacant townhouse under construction has been classified as arson.
A townhouse under construction at the Arbor Village development off of Little and Centerville lanes near south Roop Street was destroyed by fire. No additional information can be released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.
On Sunday at approximately 11:20 p.m. Carson City firefighter crews were dispatched to the structure fire at the vacant Arbor Villa apartment complex under construction located off of Little Lane and Centerville.
Upon arrival, firefighters observed one unit of the complex fully engulfed in flames. Fire suppression efforts managed to limit the damage to two units, crews battling the blaze saved surrounding properties and damages are estimated at $225,000, according to the Carson City Fire Department. On Wednesday morning the Carson City Fire Department seasonal woodland fire crews and the Carson City Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue team scoured the building and nearby brush looking for any physical evidence as to how the fire may have started.
