UPDATE 5:25PM: Carson City Fire Department is on scene at a vegetation fire on Sierra Vista Lane. The fire is contained and no structures damaged, according to Carson City Fire Chief Sean Slamon. The fire is estimated at 2 acres. Mutual aid was provided by East Fork Fire and Truckee Meadows Fire, they are covering the city while firefighters are battling the blaze. The Carson City Sheriff's Office has closed Sierra Vista at Pinion Hills.

Carson City Fire Department was called late Monday afternoon to a brush fire in the area of Sierra Vista Lane and Carson River Road.
Carson City dispatch reports multiple 911 calls of a fire, which appears to be growing rapidly. The call came into dispatch at around 4:35 p.m.
Arriving emergency personnel report heavy black smoke. 911 callers report flames. The fire is reportedly 2 acres with a moderate rate of speed. The fire is adjacent to the river, which is acting as a fire break, according to a battalion chief.
The fire has been declared a working incident. Multiple brush units are responding. There has not been any early reports of homes or structures threatened.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office has closed Sierra Vista Lane at Pinion Hills. People are advised to stay clear of the area due to fire engines and brush engines responding to the fire.
