Sunday's Carson City Symphony concert moved indoors at North Room, Governor's Mansion
Organizers of today's (Sunday) Carson City Symphony concert have decided to move the venue indoors at the Governor's Mansion' North Room (Larry Ruvo Stateroom).
Music Director David Bugli consulted several weather reporting systems (apps, websites, etc.), and has received several concerned calls and emails, and thus came to the conclusion that the chance of rain during the concert is more than likely.
The concert time is still 6 p.m. Audience seating inside will be limited, but organizers plan to put up a speaker to the portico area and put up a pop-up tent or two for outdoor seating of audience (as they did that several years ago).
The Governor's Mansion is located 606 Mountain Street, Carson City. Admission is free.
The Carson City Symphony, directed by David Bugli, will be joined on the program by the Carson Chamber Singers directed by Gary Schwartz; the Joyful Noise Carson Children's Choir directed by Michelle Powers; singer-songwriter Tom Miller; and announcer Tom Strekal.
"The Pops Party Concerts are a tradition going back to 1985. We bring popular favorites and fresh material to each edition," said Bugli.
The program includes tunes from Broadway shows, marches, Tom Miller's original song, Somethin' About You, arranged for orchestra and chorus by David Bugli, and more. The Carson Chamber Singers will sing five of Aaron Copland's Old American Songs.
This free concert is funded in part by grants from the Nevada Arts Council and the National Endowment for the Arts, the Carson City Cultural Commission, and by private donations. For more information, call the Symphony at 775-883-4154 or check the web site: CCSymphony.com.
