Carson City recognizes retiring sergeant, promotes detective and welcomes new deputy
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office bid farewell to a longtime sergeant on Friday, welcomed a long time member of the force who was promoted to sergeant and introduced a new member to the deputy team.
Carson City Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Darrin Sloan was recognized for his outstanding service upon his retirement after 27 years as a peace officer. Known for his early efforts in creating the agency’s Special Enforcement Team and his leadership in building a law enforcement presence in schools with the Schools Resource Program, Sloan’s presence as the “go to guy” will be missed, said CCSO Sheriff Ken Furlong.
“To the credit of Darrin, this agency stepped up to the challenge of bringing back to Carson City the permanent fixture of the School Resource Officers Program,” said Furlong. “This endeavor was years in the making and a challenge to create. In no short order, Darrin’s oversight and coordination was instrumental in the early successes that we’ve witnessed. He’s shown an outstanding career of service before self.”
Also on Friday, Carson City Sheriff’s Office promoted David Legros as a sergeant. An officer at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office since September 16, 2000, Legros has served most of his time with the agency within the detective division and worked throughout his career to prepare himself for advancement, including a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a minor in psychology, and career development and commitment through an Advanced POST Certification.
“Dave is deserving and has all of the credentials of a great leader,” said Furlong.
Finally, Dylan Etchegaray was sworn in as a Carson City Sheriff’s Office Deputy.
