Happening Today: More than 30 brewers represented at this year’s Capital City Brewfest happening June 24
The Capital City Brewfest returns this summer with a record number of brews available for sampling. Attendees can look forward to tasting at least 30 different beers and hard ciders at the event. The Capital City Brewfest takes place Saturday, June 24 from 3 to 8 p.m., along Curry Street at McFadden Plaza in Carson City.
It is the only Brewfest in Carson City, plus we draw people from Lyon and Douglas counties to the event,” said Brewfest organizer Rich Perry. “It’s a good marketing opportunity for many craft brewers.”
Long time participant Pigeon Head Brewery owner Peter Crooks says he looks forward to returning to the annual event. “We consider this event to be one of a half dozen or so essential Northern Nevada events each year. It is a nice opportunity to spend time and share our beer with the great folks in Carson City.”
Andrea Latos of 10Torr Distilling and Brewing concurs. “Events like the Capital City Brewfest strengthen the sense of community by bringing local people and businesses together. It also gives everyone a chance to enjoy their city in a fun way.”
Jared Kay of Belching Beaver Brewery enjoys getting feedback from the people tasting his beer. “It’s a great opportunity to connect with Carson City residents. We strive to brew awesome beer. We listen to what people tell us they like and want.”
This Capital City Brewfest also features live music on the stage in McFadden Plaza and a raffle for prizes such as wine, beer, dining, and golf packages.
Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Carson City, the Capital City Brewfest benefits the organization’s community projects, youth programs and scholarships. Tickets are $35.00 in advance and $40.00 at the door and can be purchased at www.capitalcitybrewfest.com.
