Carson City and Lake Tahoe area road report through June 7

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of June 1-7, 2015. Roadway sealing will continue resulting in road closures in the following areas, at which time there will be traffic control in place:
— The area along Deer Run Road and Pinon Hills Drive, Monday, June 1 and the general vicinity of Washington Street to the north, Roop Street to the east, Seventh Street to the south, and Carson Street to the west; as well as along Morgan Mill Road, Sunday, June 7.

Beginning Monday, June 1, through Wednesday, June 3, the outside westbound lane on William Street will be closed between Roop Street and Anderson Street from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Beginning Tuesday, June 2, through Thursday, June 4, the outside northbound lane will be closed on the Carson City Freeway (I-580) between the William Street and College Parkway interchanges from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.

Beginning Monday, June 1, there will be lane restrictions on westbound Fifth Street between Well Way and Riparian Way due to work on the north side of the median. Some delays are expected.

Beginning Monday, June 1, sidewalk improvements will be constructed at the main entrance to Western Nevada College from College Parkway. There may be limited access at the main entrance at times.

On Wednesday, June 3, the eastbound right turn lane on Fifth Street onto southbound Stewart Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Right turns will still be permitted from the through lane.

There will be lane closures at the intersection of Bigelow Drive and Race Track Road with flagger controlled traffic on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Friday, June 5, Third Street will be closed between Curry Street and Carson Street from 2 p.m. to midnight, due to a special event.

The Nevada Department of Transportation reports the following roadwork around the Reno area: Now underway, southbound lanes of Interstate 580 will be reduced south of the Reno spaghetti bowl as the Nevada Department of Transportation replaces aging roadway concrete as part of the Southbound I-580 Reconstruction Project.

Three interstate lanes will remain open in each direction throughout construction. Southbound lanes will be reduced to three lanes between Glendale Avenue and Moana Lane through fall. One lane will be rerouted to a designated construction lane on the northbound interstate, with no access to off ramps north of Moana Lane. The two remaining southbound lanes will be routed through the construction zone with access to select southbound off ramps.
The following ramps will be closed or have limited access: The Glendale Avenue off ramp from southbound I-580 will only be accessible via I-80 to southbound I-580 spaghetti bowl ramps (not accessible via mainline southbound I-580).
— The Mill Street on ramp to southbound I-580 will be closed during construction.
— The Villanova/Plumb Lane off ramp from southbound I-580 will be closed for approximately three months.

Around the Lake Tahoe Basin and Sierra this week Caltrans reports:
State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $70.1 million project from Tahoma to the "Y" junction with State Route 28 in Tahoe City on Lake Tahoe’s West Shore that will upgrade storm water drainage and treatment systems, add curb and gutter, resurface and realign the road, add new left-turn pockets and widen shoulders on a 9-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected in fall 2016.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $20 million water-quality project from 0.1 mile north of the Eagle Falls Sidehill Viaduct No. 5 in Emerald Bay to the Meeks Creek Bridge in Meeks Bay. This project is adding new drainage features, curb and gutter in some locations, and resurfacing a nearly 7-mile stretch of the highway. Completion is expected this fall.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from 1 Ring Road to Bliss Memorial State Park Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for drainage work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on an $8 million project from Meeks Creek to Wilson Avenue in Tahoma, installing curb and gutter and drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater. The highway will also be resurfaced. Completion is expected this fall.

June 1-4: State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Meeks Creek to Wilson Avenue: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for roadway excavation.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $25 million project from the "Y" junction with U.S. Highway 50 in South Lake Tahoe to Cascade Road, north of Camp Richardson. Curb, gutter and sidewalks will be added in the 1.1-mile four-lane section, and the highway will be widened in the two-lane section to Visitor Center Road to provide 4-foot paved shoulders on each side. Drainage systems are also being built and the roadway will be resurfaced. Completion is expected by spring 2017.

June 1-5: State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from West Way to Fallen Leaf Lake Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday and from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for paving work.

State Route 28 (Placer County): Work continues on Placer County’s $50 million Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project from State Route 267 to Chipmunk Street. The project is installing curb and gutter, sidewalks, roundabouts, lighting and drainage systems to enhance pedestrian and bicycle mobility, improve safety and provide water-quality improvements.

State Route 267 (Placer County): Work is set to begin on a $5.2 million project to grind and pave and make drainage improvements to a nearly seven-mile stretch of State Route 267 from just north of Schaffer Mill Road to Brockway Summit. Completion is expected by the end of September.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Northstar Drive to the Ranger Station road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work. There will also be daytime shoulder closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday from the Nevada County line to Northstar Drive for pavement work.

State Route 28 (Placer County) from the Nevada state line to Robert Avenue in Carnelian Bay: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday for grinding and paving.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Placerville Drive to Canal Street: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Monday through Friday for drainage work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Camp Sacramento to Sayles Canyon Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect alternating lane closures around the clock from 12:01 a.m. Monday to 10 a.m. Friday for chip sealing.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from just south and just north of Alpine Meadows Road: Southbound motorists can expect the right shoulder closed intermittently from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for bridge work.

State Route 89 (Placer County) from the junction with State Route 28 to Fairway Drive in Tahoe City: Southbound motorists can expect the auxiliary lane and right shoulder closed from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday for utility work.
