Dayton man arrested for second DUI offense in Carson City after reckless driving
A 32-year-old man from Dayton was pulled over and arrested on Thursday night in Carson City for his second DUI offense.
According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to William St. on report of a a reckless driver. The reporting party stated the vehicle was seen swerving in and out of traffic and driving at a high rate of speed.
Upon arrival, deputies reported hearing a loud exhaust and saw the vehicle driving faster than normal and swerving in between lanes without using a turn signal. Deputies stopped the vehicle, which came to a stop in the parking lot of a business.
The driver exited the vehicle and tried to open the door to a nearby business, but deputies called him back and commanded the driver to get back into the vehicle.
The deputy smelled heavy alcohol on the suspect, who had also been slurring his words. Deputies asked if he had been drinking, which the suspect denied.
The deputy asked the man to exit the vehicle, and noted he appeared to be injured. The deputy asked the suspect if he had recently received a head injury. The man said he'd rolled a quad (an off-roading vehicle) the day before; however, the deputy noted in the report that the man's injuries appeared to be consistent with a fight, not a quad accident.
The deputy then conducted Standardized Field Sobriety tests. After showing multiple clues of impairment, the deputy conducted a breath test which resulted in a 0.245 BAC.
The man was then arrested and booked for a second offense DUI.
Bail: $2,500
