Thunderstorms moving into the Carson City region
Showers and isolated thunderstorms are moving into the Lake Tahoe, Carson City and Carson Valley region this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The unsettled weather is expected to continue through this afternoon and early evening.
Although strong thunderstorms are not likely, a few storms could produce brief, moderate to heavy rain and small hail. Ponding of water on area roads and gusty outflow winds around 35 mph are possible, according to the weather service.
In the higher elevations, generally above, 7,500 feet, accumulating snow and small hail are possible. Slow down if driving through hail or snow. Roads may be slick.
The weather pattern will continue through Friday, with a 60 percent chance of thunderstorms. There's a lesser chance for storms over the weekend. For updates, go here.
