Home condemned following Carson City arrest of two for drug trafficking, endangering children
On May 2nd, 2023, the Carson City Sheriff's Office investigated two residents in a home on the eastern edge of Carson City, recovering over 75 pounds of cannabis from an illegal and “clandestine” cannabis cultivation laboratory, according to law enforcement.
Law enforcement also seized 181 grams of hashish and two pounds of butane honey oil, which is a concentrated extraction of cannabis that has a THC concentration of up to 90%. The investigation combined the efforts of the Carson City Sheriff's Office's Special Enforcement Team (SET), Carson City Sheriff's Office's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), and the Nevada State Tri-NET Task Force.
During the morning, the Tri-NET Task Force assisted the Special Enforcement Team in conducting surveillance on Greg Armentrout as he transported his children to school. After the drop-off, the Special Enforcement Team detained Armentrout for a traffic violation. The traffic stop initiated a pre-planned, simultaneous execution of the search warrant service upon the Armentrout residence by the Carson City Sheriff's Office's Special Weapons and Tactics team (SWAT), who searched the one-acre lot containing a 1977 sqft residence and five additional storage structures, two motor homes, and six vehicles. SWAT encountered Wendylyn Clemens at the residence while clearing the property of hazards and soon found the clandestine cannabis cultivation laboratory.
SET amended the search warrant to include searching for signs of drug sales and trafficking, and with the assistance of the Tri-NET Task Force, allowing them to recover the cannabis, butane honey oil, and hash.
Public Health agencies, such as Carson City Code Enforcement, Environmental Services, and the City Fire Marshal, responded to assess the condition of the clandestine laboratory. They determined that all the unsanctioned construction improvements to the property made it a public safety hazard, condemning it and directing NV Energy to cut the power.
SET arrested Armentrout and Clemens. They were both booked into the Carson City Jail for Trafficking a Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Drug House, Drug Endangered Children, and Illegal Extraction of THC.
