Carson City deputies make arrests for burglary, drugs and battery with a cane

A 35-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Wednesday for suspicion of multiple felony counts, including burglary, vehicle burglary and possession of stolen property, a sheriff's deputy reported.

Amy Lynn Rodriguez was taken into custody at a Lee Street residence at 1:31 p.m. She also faces a felony charge of obtaining money under false pretenses.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched Tuesday to the 2000 block of Lone Mountain regarding a vehicle that had been burglarized. Upon arrival, deputies met with the victim who said that approximately $896 worth of items had been stolen from his vehicle, including Helix subwoofer.

The investigation led to an online website where the subwoofer was pawned the day prior by a woman identified as Rodriguez. The pawn ticket showed a Lee Street address.

The deputy went to the residence and met with the woman and asked her about the subwoofer she had pawned. She confirmed it was she who had pawned it and stated she had received $50 from the pawnshop for the subwoofer, the arrest report states.

She initially lied to the deputy but then admitted she had stolen it fro a vehicle the night prior, along with other items, the arrest report states. She gave the deputy the other items she had stolen, which also matched the items stolen from the victim and was arrested. Total bail amounted listed for each charge: $85,000.

— A 34-year-old Carson City man, Randall Jonathan Saucedo, was booked Wednesday, 8:40 a.m. after being transferred by Northern Nevada Corrections for a warrant issued Jan. 9, 2019 out of Carson City Justice Court alleging the man tortured, maimed and killed a dog, the arrest report states. Bail: $5,000. According to the arrest report, the man is currently in custody with Northern Nevada Correction and serving a sentence for an unrelated crime.

— A 46-year-old Carson City man, Frank Jack Coleman, was arrested Wednesday at a North Minnesota Street residence for felony suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the location in reference to a domestic battery. Deputies met with the victim and learned there was an argument in which the woman said she was angry and flipped over a small table in the man's room.

The victim said the man responded by grabbing her by the throat with both hands and squeezing. She did not pass out and was able to push the man away and then called 911. The man admitted to grabbing the woman by the jaw and squeezing, the arrest report states. An investigating deputy determined red marks on the victim were consistent with hand and finger marks and appeared fresh. He was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery with strangulation. Bail: $15,000.

— A man was arrested Wednesday, 6:39 a.m. in the 900 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of battery, possession of drug paraphernalia and two failure to appear traffic warrants issued in 2012 and 2018.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a casino regarding a customer who was being physical with security. Deputies arrived and saw the man sitting on the floor against a wall.

Security advised the man had entered the restroom and had been in there for a long time and had been singing. Security advised he had received a complaint and advised the man to leave.

The man engaged in a verbal dispute with security and refused to leave. The man was carrying a 4 foot wood cane and began to swing the cane like a bat, hitting the casino security guard.

The security officer tackled the man and during the struggle, glass broke from a picture on the wall. Security advised that a glass meth pipe fell out of the man's pocket during the incident. A deputy located the pipe. The man was arrested. Bail: $2,899.

— A Dayton woman, Amy Marie Pulfrey, was arrested Tuesday, 12:49 p.m. in the area of Carson and John streets for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, and three misdemeanors: Driving with a revoked driver's license, failure to stop at a stop sign and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a deputy with the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team observed a vehicle not come to a complete stop at a stop sign in the area of Washington and Curry streets. The deputy made a traffic stop and spoke with the driver and passenger. The driver, Pulfrey had a revoked license though the revocation had expired. The male passenger had a suspended license.

A drug detection canine, Ivo, conducted an exterior free air sniff around the vehicle and alerted positive. Deputies located a methamphetamine pipe with a trace amount of methamphetamine in the woman's purse. Both were interviewed, and the man admitted he smoked meth with the suspect and another female. The female suspect admitted that the pipe was hers and admitted to smoking methamphetamine as well. The man was released. During a search at jail deputies located a hydrocodone tablet on her person. She did not have a valid prescription. Total bail amount listed: $6,881.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was booked Wednesday for a temporary protection violation order.
According to the arrest report, the man allegedly made multiple phone calls from jail to the victim who had a protection order issued for domestic violence. Bail: $3,137.

— A 34-year-old transient was arrested Wednesday, 4:50 p.m. in the 1200 block of North Roop Street for a misdemeanor warrant issued out of Douglas County. Bail: $238.

— A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 7:20 p.m. in the 1600 block of Airport Road for a gross misdemeanor warrant alleging battery on a health care provider. Bail: $2,500.

— A 44-year-old Carson City man as arrested Wednesday on a misdemeanor Lyon County bench warrant issued in November 2000.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 1400 block of North Carson Street for a possible domestic dispute heard in a room. The suspect identified himself. A deputy ran a warrant check through dispatch which showed he had a confirmed failure to appear warrant in Dayton Township Court. No bail hold, awaiting extradition to Lyon County.

UPDATE 6 p.m.: Courtesy of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office: On May 3, 2024 at approximately 1430 hours, Lyon County Sheriff’s Deputies responded along with Central Lyon County, Carson City and Storey County Fire personnel to the area of 34 Newman Ln. for a report of motorhome on fire. Upon arrival, it was discovered that the fire had spread and multiple other abandoned vehicles caught fire as well. No one was hurt or injured during the incident. The incident is currently under investigation, which is being conducted by the Nevada State Fire Marshall’s Division.

UPDATE 2:38 p.m.: Firefighters from Storey are also now responding.

UPDATE 2:33 p.m.: Multiple vehicles on the property are engulfed in flame.

Around 2:15 p.m. a fire was reported at 34 Newman Lane in Mound House.

Firefighters from Carson City and Lyon County are enroute to the scene.

UPDATE 1:20 p.m.: According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, a student reported they saw a weapon. The incident was investigated and there was no weapon found. The lockdown has now been lifted and students are leaving the school.

UPDATE 1:15 p.m.: Update 05-03-24 at 1:15 p.m.
One student has reported an alleged weapon sighting. It has not been corroborated, but school officials and the sheriff’s office are investigating out an abundance of caution.

UPDATE 12:50 p.m.: The following update was provided by the district:

Carson High School was put on lockdown this afternoon around 12:15 p.m. No person was injured. There is an active situation being investigated in cooperation with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office. We will provide more information as it becomes known. The school is secure. Do not go to the school. No entrances will be permitted at time. The district will provide updates every 30 minutes. Expect the next update at 1:15 p.m.

Carson High School is currently on a lockdown as of 12:40 p.m. Friday, but there has been no incident reported according to Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office arrested three for their alleged involvement in business thefts last month on Topsy Lane south of Carson City.
