Carson City man accused of attempted sexual assault, false imprisonment, child endangerment

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday morning for suspicion of attempted sexual assault, child endangerment and other offenses, a sheriff's deputy report states.

Luis Dominguez-Zavaleta was taken into custody at 12:02 a.m. in the 2000 block of Lone Mountain Drive. He was also arrested for suspicion of false imprisonment, a gross misdemeanor, felony drug possession and misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, the man allegedly attempted to sexually assault his ex-girlfriend, took her phone and wouldn't allow her to leave the room after he went to her residence at around 10:15 p.m. to see their child.

The victim was able to escape, after being pinned down, when the child entered the room. The suspect then began smoking an unknown controlled substance, the arrest report states. The woman and her child escaped the apartment with the man still inside.

Deputies illuminated the apartment and announced numerous times the sheriff's office presence on a PA system. He was found sitting in the apartment, smoking the unknown substance, and was arrested. Total bail amount listed in the booking report, $30,637.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the 500 block of East William Street for a report of an intoxicated woman getting into a vehicle and driving.

Deputies located the vehicle and followed it, where the driver was seen failing to stop at a stop line. She was pulled over, where deputies explained to the woman why she was stopped. The woman showed signs of impairment, and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her breath. She was asked how many alcoholic drinks she had consumed. the woman replied "too many," the arrest report states.

The woman told officers she suffered from back problems, had diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease. She advised she had taken a trazodone the previous evening. The woman agreed to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests.

She provided a preliminary breath test of .308 and was arrested. She was taken to the hospital due to the unsafe level of intoxication. After she was medically cleared, she was taken to jail where she voluntarily provided evidentiary blood samples.

According to the arrest report, the woman had a previous DUI conviction in 2015. Bail: $3,361.

According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the area in reference to a welfare check after a neighbor advised they had seen a woman at a nearby residence screaming "get away from me." The neighbor asked the woman if she was OK. The woman replied, "not really," the arrest report states.

Deputies arrived at the location, and met with the victim, who appeared distressed and had an injury on her right foot with fresh blood on it. It was learned the woman had allegedly been kicked by the suspect who was wearing work boots, the report states.

Deputies made contact with the suspect, who was intoxicated. He said the he and the victim had been arguing over finances and there wasn't any physical fighting. The man said the victim had hurt her foot the day prior on a screen door.

He said the two had a "scuffle" and when asked to elaborate said the woman attacked him with a pizza cutter. The victim was asked about the pizza cutter. She told deputies she held a pizza cutter in the kitchen to defend herself but never attacked him with it, the arrest report states.
