Deputies arrest patient for punching nurse over refusal to provide coffee and snacks
A 28-year-old Wellington woman was arrested in the 700 block of Fleischmann Way Thursday night after allegedly punching a nurse who wouldn’t give her “snacks.”
According to the arrest report, Niki Ciara Parker was arrested after deputies were dispatched to a mental health facility in response to a report of a battery.
Upon arrival, deputies spoke to a nurse who stated she was at the nursing station when a patient, identified as Parker, came out of her room and was trying to get some coffee from the nursing station.
The nurse advised she stood in the opening of the nursing station to prevent her from coming in, at which point Parker became verbally aggressive, “demanding snacks.”
Parker then punched the nurse in the left shoulder, and security escorted Parker back to her room.
Deputies checked the nurse’s shoulder for injuries and noted there was redness where she was allegedly struck.
Deputies then spoke to a witness who stated she was in another patient’s room when she heard Parker get verbal. The witness came and took the coffee and put it back in the break room. When she turned around, she witnessed Parker punch the nurse.
Deputies also reviewed security footage which confirmed the events.
Deputies made contact with Parker, who declined to speak with them. Dispatch advised that Parker is on probation with Nevada Parole and Probation, and P&P placed a no bail hold on her.
Parker was booked for battery on a protected person, a gross misdemeanor, and felony parole and probation hold.
No bail.
