Dayton couple arrested for drug crimes, violation of court orders during traffic stop
A 33-year-old Dayton man and a 29-year-old Dayton woman were arrested for drug possession, violation of suspended sentencing and violation of pretrial conditions following a traffic stop.
According to the report, deputies were patrolling on E. William Street just before 8 p.m. when they observed a vehicle with no rear license plate making a turn onto Humbolt Lane.
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on E. Long Street and made contact with the driver, who stated he had just purchased the vehicle earlier in the day which is why there was no license plate on it.
He provided a bill of sale with the title of the vehicle sold earlier in the day, but was unable to provide a current driver’s license or insurance when requested.
Dispatch advised that both the driver and the passenger, the 29-year-old woman, were on pretrial conditions and subject to search and seizure.
Deputies asked the two to step out of the vehicle. Under the driver’s seat, deputies located a safe which contained a hypodermic needle, a broken methamphetamine pipe, a small container of what appeared to be methamphetamine, and miscellaneous marijuana paraphernalia.
The man was also in possession of three knives, which was against his court conditions.
Inside the woman’s belongings deputies located a bottle of pills who she stated “belonged to a friend” which contained four escitalopram doses, according to the report.
Bail for the man: $6,637; $3,000 cash only
Bail for the woman: $6,500; $4,000 cash only
