Carson City arrests: Man faces drug possession and other charges
An 18-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of possession of a dangerous drug without a prescription and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a Mercedes in the area of Colorado and Meadowbrook streets. The traffic stop was for a headlamp violation. The deputy contacted the driver and could smell a moderate odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle.
The driver told the officer he did not have proof of insurance in the vehicle. The officer asked the man if he had any marijuana in the vehicle.
The man replied no. The deputy was able to see a plastic baggy with marijuana on the floorboard of the vehicle. The driver told the officer there wasn’t any marijuana in the car but he had smoked marijuana in the car earlier that morning and then handed the officer a wood marijuana pipe.
During a subsequent search of the vehicle the officer located an additional marijuana pipe, several baggies that had been used to hold marijuana, an open partially consumed bottle of Jaegermeister, a small clear baggie with a prescription pill, a Xanax, that had been broken into two pieces. There were burnt ends of marijuana “blunts” scattered throughout the vehicle and small pieces of marijuana leaves and stems throughout the car.
He faces charges of gross misdemeanor possession of a dangerous prescription drug without a prescription and the following misdemeanors: Possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, open container, no proof of insurance, improper color lamps and reflectors and minor in possession of alcohol. Bail: $5,617.
