Man jailed after battery victim said he forcibly jabbed her with meth needle

A 44-year-old man, Robert Lawson White, was arrested Friday, 1:08 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on suspicion of administering a controlled substance, methamphetamine, against the victim’s will and misdemeanor domestic battery.

According to the arrest report, officers responded to the Frontier Motel regarding a call to dispatch about a woman who had been beaten up by a man. Officers arrived and met with the victim, who had bruising around her left eye. She said she and White had an argument, with White grabbing a phone out of her hand, throwing her to the ground and placing his hands over her mouth so she couldn’t breath. The victim said he then then pushed her head into the floor.

The victim showed officers her right forearm where it had several bumps and redness. The officer asked what happened to her arm. The victim said White held her down and stuck a needle in her arm and injected her with methamphetamine against her will. She was questioned later about it in a recorded interview.

She said that around 1 a.m. March 25, White held her right arm and jabbed a needle into her forearm, injecting her with drugs. She said he attempted to hit a vein and missed because she had resist. She said he kept moving the needle around in her arm and said she was afraid that if she fought back White might do something else to her. She stated to officers that she did not want to be injected with methamphetamine and White forced it on her, the arrest report states.

A detective asked the victim about the bruising on her eye. The woman refused to speak with officers about the incident, which she said happened in Reno, because she said she doesn’t want White to face charges in another county, according to the arrest report.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy Brett Bindley was on patrol observed a tan 2001 GMC Tahoe parked on the south side of Park Street west of Carson Street facing eastbound.

The vehicle was occupied by Roberts and appeared to be loitering in a high-drug traffic area. The officer conducted a registration check on the vehicle. Reno Police Department had reported the vehicle as being stolen as of Feb. 2, 2015.

Deputies Hutt, Chaznowski and Bindley conducted a high-risk traffic stop on the vehicle and placed Roberts in custody. The woman’s daughter was in the back seat of the vehicle.
Officers informed her of her Miranda rights which she waived and agreed to speak with the deputy. The officer asked her how she obtained the vehicle. She stated her fiancé, Ashlee Vazquez, obtained the vehicle from a friend. It was later learned the friend was the person who reported the vehicle stolen.

She said they obtained the vehicle around December. Roberts said Vazquez told her she got the vehicle from the friend and took it to Carson City. The stolen vehicle report also listed Vazquez as the main suspect, the arrest report states.

An officer asked Roberts if she knew where Vazquez was so that he could speak with her. The woman gestured to the sidewalk across the street and said “she is standing right there,” the arrest report states.

A deputy spoke with Vazquez and informed her of her Miranda rights in which she waived and agreed to speak. The officer asked about the vehicle. She said that she is family friends with the vehicle owner. The woman said the owner went to Mexico in December 2014 and left the vehicle for her.

Both women were arrested on felony charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, with bail amounts of $25,000 each. Robert’s two children were released to the Department of Child and Family services staff.

Those arrested on criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
