Living Stones Church hosts food drive for FISH, drop off at church or BAC through April 16
Help fight hunger in our city! Due to rising food costs and availability of resources, our food banks are having to work harder to provide for food-insecure families in our city, and we want to help.
Join us in supporting F.I.S.H. FISH (Friends in Service Helping) by donating non-perishable items until April 16th. You can drop these off at church on Sundays, or at the Brewery Arts Center main lobby (449 W. King St) Tuesday through Sunday from noon to 4 pm. Brewery Arts Center
Here are some of the best items to buy:
- Canned vegetables and fruits: These items are packed with nutrients and have a long shelf life. Opt for low-sodium or no-sugar-added options. (ex: peaches, pears, green beans, corn, etc)
- Canned proteins: Canned meats like tuna, chicken, and salmon are great sources of protein and can be used in a variety of meals. Beans and lentils are also good options for vegetarians.
- Grains: Rice, pasta, and oatmeal are great options that can be used in a variety of recipes. You can also do granola bars or breakfast bars, mac and cheese, or boxed rice dinners.
- Nuts/Peanut butter: High in protein and healthy fats, peanut butter is a versatile item that can be used in sandwiches, smoothies, and more. Other nuts/trail mixes may be good options for snacking as well.
- Cereal: Look for low-sugar, high-fiber options like oatmeal, bran flakes, or shredded wheat.
- Soup: Canned soups are an easy meal option and can be a good source of protein and vegetables.
- Baby food and formula: These items can be expensive for families with young children, so they can be a valuable donation.
Thank you for being In the City For the City!
