Lockdown lifted at Fritsch Elementary; threat to school made after most students had left
UPDATE 9:10PM: From the Carson City Sheriff's Office: Wednesday's lockdown of Fritsch Elementary School was a result of a threatening phone message received by staff at the school. Although there were no classes in session at the time, many latchkey students and faculty were on the school grounds. The students and staff on the campus were placed in a procedural in-place lockdown while Deputy Sheriff's performed a room by room search to insure the safety of everyone.
Our appreciation to all of the parents and family members who patiently awaited outside the school while the staff and officers completed the search.
The School District and the Carson City Sheriff's Office place our students safety at the highest priority. Therefore, any threat whatsoever, regardless of its nature, receives a very assertive response.
