Lyon County man arrested for domestic battery after attacking woman, fleeing the scene twice
On March 21, 2024, at 1313 hours, Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Deputies assigned to the Northern Command in Fernley were dispatched to the 100 block of Rosecrest Dr. in Fernley for a report of a domestic battery.
When Deputies arrived on scene they met with the victim who stated that they were battered and the suspect left prior to deputies arriving on scene. During the initial investigation deputies established probable cause to arrest the suspect, twenty-eight year-old Fernley resident, Cody Cunningham. Deputies searched for Cody and were not initially able to find him.
At 1506 hours, Deputies were again dispatched to the same address for another reported domestic battery. Cody reportedly returned to the residence and another physical altercation ensued.
Deputies arrived and met with the victim who was suffering from substantial injuries as a result of a subsequent domestic battery. She was evaluated on scene by paramedics and transported to an area hospital for further emergency treatment. Cody was again identified as the suspect and once again fled the scene prior to deputy arrival.
During a search of the area, deputies located Cody walking in the neighborhood about 30 minutes later.
He was uncooperative and was ultimately arrested and charged with one count of misdemeanor domestic battery for the first altercation and one count of felony domestic battery resulting in substantial bodily harm for the second altercation.
Cody was transported to the Lyon County Jail and booked on the above listed charges. His bail is $13,140.
