Man booked on felony battery warrant, Carson City Sheriff's SET make drug arrests

A 46-year-old man currently in custody at Carson City Jail on other matters was served a warrant Wednesday alleging felony battery with a deadly weapon, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

The warrant for Eric Anthony Weber, was issued Wednesday out of Dayton Township Justice Court. Bail: $30,000.

In other arrests:
— A 29-year-old Carson City woman, Jamie Lynn Weir, was arrested by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team on Wednesday, 9:57 a.m. in the 3100 block of East Nye Lane for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of a prescription drug without a prescription, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant.

According to the arrest report, deputies had received tips the woman and a man had been selling drugs near a convenience store outbuilding. Surveillance done prior had indicated drugs were being delivered to the store where the woman was working as a convenience store clerk, according to the arrest report.

Deputies arrived and saw the woman standing in front of the store. Officers knew she had a warrant for her arrest. She was detained and then arrested after the warrant was confirmed.

The woman, who appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, admitted to living in an outbuilding west of the store in a detached office area, the arrest report states.

A SET deputy asked to speak with the owner of the commercial property. The owner explained the woman was living in an outbuilding on the premises. The man was advised he was in violation of code and code enforcement would be notified. The man was cooperative and allowed officers to search the property, the arrest report states.

In a room on the north side of the southwest building, deputies observed drug paraphernalia, a methamphetamine pipe, in plain view. Based on information received about the property, the woman’s symptoms of drug use and paraphernalia found, SET applied for and received a search warrant allowing access to search the outbuildings and makeshift residence.

Deputies searched the residence and discovered a bathroom built in one of the sheds to the rear of the convenience store. They located a methamphetamine pipe with trace amounts of methamphetamine inside. There was drug paraphernalia in one of the sheds as well. Also located was a jewelry box in the woman’s makeshift bedroom that contained three Trazadone pills. Several plastic baggies and the woman’s cellular phone were also seized. Bail: $7,287.

— A 36-year-old Carson City man, Gilberto Ortiz, was arrested for felony suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, driving on a suspended license and failure to stop at a traffic signal. He was arrested by the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team on Wednesday, 12:27 p.m. in the area of Nye and Hot Springs Road.

According to the arrest report, a deputy made a traffic stop on a black Toyota Camry that failed to come to a complete stop at a red light. The vehicle then immediately turned into a convenience store parking lot in the 3000 block of North Roop and then drove back, westbound on Hot Springs Road. The vehicle was stopped near the intersection of Nye Lane and Hot Springs Road.

The suspect appeared agitated. The deputy recognized him from previous drug arrests related to methamphetamine, the arrest report states. The man became argumentative with the SET sergeant and initially refused to exit the vehicle, the arrest report states.

The man calmed down and become compliant after a canine was removed from the patrol vehicle. A pat down search was conducted and a free air drug sniff was done around the vehicle. The dog alerted to the presence of drug odor on the driver and passenger doors of the vehicle, the arrest report states.

Upon the search of the vehicle, deputies noticed many of the interior and exterior body panels had been removed from the vehicle with broken pins and screws throughout the vehicle’s trim. The vehicle had also been painted from what appeared to be a factory purple color to a flat black, the arrest report states.

A deputy located two separate voids under the gear shift, transmission hump and could see plastic or cellophane, a common method of packaging drugs, the arrest report states. Deputies removed two methamphetamine pipes with methamphetamine residue from under the gear shift, a cigarette pack with various plastic baggies inside. The baggies contained trace amounts of methamphetamine. The man was taken into custody. Bail: $4,361.

— A 20-year-old Carson City woman, Cassandra B. Robertson, was arrested Wednesday, 7:29 p.m. in the 1000 block of North Minnesota Street for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to Behavioral Health Services for a report of a controlled substance found in the possession of a client. Officers observed a white crystal substance inside a metal tin and a small baggie with a black goo type substance. The woman refused to talk to officers about the items found. A deputy checked through dispatch for warrants. The woman had a confirmed failure to appear warrant out of Douglas County District Court with a $5,000 bail amount. Total bail: $7,500.

— A 26-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 12:09 p.m. in the 1100 block of Monument Peak Drive for misdemeanor suspicion of battery. Bail: $1,137.

— A 30-year-old transient was arrested early Thursday, 12:15 a.m. in the 900 block of East Fifth Street for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued March 6, 2018 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $1,000.

— A 22-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Thursday, 2:18 a.m. at a parking lot in the 3800 block of South Carson Street for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI and open container.

According to the arrest report, deputies were dispatched to the area after an anonymous caller stated there was possible intoxicated man passed out in the driver’s seat of a van parked on a concrete planter box in the parking lot.

The arriving deputy located the van matching the description with its right wheels on the concrete planter box. The man, the sole occupant of the vehicle, was slumped over the steering wheel. The vehicle engine was running, lights on, his seatbelt fastened and the driver’s seat was in the upright position, the arrest report states.

The man stated he had been drinking earlier in the evening. He consented to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment. He provided a .261 preliminary breath test and was arrested. Deputies located multiple open containers of alcoholic beverages within immediate control of where the man was seated, according to the arrest report. Bail: $1,329.

A sixteen-year-old Carson City resident is in custody following a gas station robbery Thursday night.

According to Sheriff Ken Furlong, the robbery occurred at an ExtraMile convenience store and involved a knife.
