Details emerge on female body found buried in shallow grave near Carson City cemetery
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said Friday that the body wrapped in a sleeping bag and discovered Tuesday by a hiker off trail by Lone Mountain Cemetery was a woman, who may have been associated with a local homeless population. Photos of the woman's belongings have been provided.
On Tuesday, March 17, Carson City investigators responded to the area of the Lone Mountain walking trail near Newridge Drive and Northridge Drive, North of the Lone Mountain Cemetery in reference to a body in a shallow grave. Investigators located a shallow gravesite with an unidentified body wrapped in a sleeping bag.
On Wednesday an autopsy was performed at the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office. Although the autopsy remains open and active, it is reported that the body discovered is that of a female with redish/blond hair, between 5 foot 2 inches to 5 foot 8 inches. She was wearing an adult diaper, white Aics size 7 shoes with purple lines, size 8 rings, and Aristar bifocals glasses with 135mm inscription, and partial top dentures.
