NV Energy President issues statement regarding help offered to those affected by COVID-19
NV Energy President Doug Cannon issued a press release in relation to COVID-19, and the help NV Energy will be offering to those affected who may find it difficult to stay afloat economically.
The statement is as follows:
Like all of you, we are closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) threat and its impact on our community. We are committed to protecting the health of our employees so that NV Energy can execute on plans to ensure you continue to have safe, reliable electric and gas service. We are here to serve you and the state of Nevada during this unprecedented time, as together we address the health risks posed by COVID-19. Here are just a few of the actions we are taking:
Many of you may be experiencing not only health uncertainty, but also financial uncertainty as a result of COVID-19. To assist during this time, NV Energy will suspend disconnects for non-payment for our customers directly impacted by this crisis.
We will also waive late fees and deposits for customers who experience financial hardships related to COVID-19, or are unable to pay due to self-isolation. Please contact our customer care center to make alternative payment arrangements if you are directly impacted by the COVID-19 threat.
NV Energy will continue to have customer service representatives available to assist you. In addition, we have a variety of service options available via the NV Energy app or online at nvenergy.com.
Rather than visiting a payment location or kiosk, you can pay bills, schedule move in or move out service, view your energy usage and much more from your computer or mobile device. You can also sign up for email and text alerts through MyAccount so that we can notify you if there are outages due to storm events or equipment failure, and keep you updated on restoration times.
To ensure you continue to receive safe, reliable electric and gas service, we are putting in place increased cleaning regimes at our facilities to help keep our employees healthy in order to serve you.
While we are decreasing the number of external meetings we hold in our buildings, please know we continue to be committed to meeting your needs and we will be available by telephone, email and other communications channels.
All of these actions, and many others, are being taken in an effort to make sure we protect the health of our employees and the customers that we interact with on a daily basis.
We will continue to work with federal, state and local authorities to ensure we are positioned to serve our customers. While there may be a lot of uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and its effect on our daily lives, one thing is certain: NV Energy will keep the lights on for you and for Nevada.
Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 702-402-5555 in southern Nevada or 775-834-4444 in northern Nevada, or visit nvenergy.com if we can be of assistance.
Sincerely,
Doug Cannon
President and Chief Executive Officer
