Carson City deputies arrest three on meth charges, man swallows evidence while being booked
A 47-year-old Carson City man was arrest Thursday for felony suspicion of trafficking methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Scot Douglas Hudson was arrested following a traffic stop in which a deputy observed the vehicle he was driving crossing a double yellow line in the area of William and Stewart streets. The man was also seen talking on a cell phone.
A deputy made contact with Hudson who said he did not have a valid driver’s license. He told the officer he was borrowing the vehicle from a friend and was unsure where any of the paperwork was, according to the arrest report.
Dispatch then confirmed the man was driving on a suspended driver’s license. A canine did an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive. Deputies recovered a meth pipe under the seat, and four plastic bags, three containing methamphetamine with a weight of 14.6 grams and a fourth baggie containing cocaine. Bail: $44,386.
In other arrests:
— A 55-year-old Carson City man, Andrew Kanvik, was arrested Thursday, 10:06 p.m. in the area of North Carson and Park streets for felony possession of a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor destroying evidence, and three misdemeanor violation of court orders. According to the arrest report, a deputy conducted a subject stop after observing a bicycle not following vehicle laws. The deputy was also following up on a report of a stolen bicycle.
The man identified himself and dispatch confirmed he was on Alternative Sentencing. The deputy asked Kanvik permission to look through his backpack. The man agreed, locating meth, and a knife. A condition of alternative sentencing was not to have any weapons. He was arrested.
In the pre-booking area, the man was sitting in a chair within four feet of where the deputy put the methamphetamine. As the officer attempted to retrieve paperwork, the man grabbed the meth and put it in his mouth. The officer told the man to spit it out. The man refused and swallowed the meth. He was taken to the hospital after consuming the meth and then booked into jail. Bail: $14,000.
— A 21-year-old Carson City man, Jacob Andrew Watts, was arrested Thursday, 10:24 p.m. in the 1400 block of North Carson Street for felony suspicion of meth possession and three misdemeanors: possession of drug paraphernalia, petit larceny and possession of stolen property. According to the arrest report, a deputy located the man riding a bicycle believed to be stolen.
The man told the officer that he found the bike in a dumpster and took it. He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak. He said he stole one bicycle and found another at a dumpster. He was arrested. During a search officers found a glass methamphetamine pipe and a baggie containing methamphetamine. Bail: $2,626.
— A 27-year-old Carson City man was booked Thursday, 6:10 p.m. for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant out of East Fork Township Court. Bail: $1,000.
— A 19-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 4:54 p.m. in the area of Saliman and Little streets for misdemeanor suspicion of DUI drugs. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana and then driving from Minden to Carson City. Bail: $1,137.
— A 59-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Friday, 4:32 a.m. in the area of East William and State streets for misdemeanor suspicion of driving on a suspended registration and a contempt of court warrant. Bail: $297.
— A 24-year-old woman as arrested early Friday in the area of Valley and Musser streets for suspicion of gross misdemeanor second DUI, failure to maintain a lane of traffic and making an improper turn.
According to the arrest report, a deputy observed the driver crossing a double yellow center line between traffic. She then struck a curb in the area of Valley and Musser streets.
The deputy stopped the driver, who showed signs of impairment. She denied any alcohol or drug use. She submitted to standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment, the arrest report states. She provided a preliminary breath test of .221 and was arrested. Bail: $2,674.
— A 55-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 10:50 a.m. in the 2900 block of Poole Way for misdemeanor violation of an extended protection order. Bail: $3,137.
