Carson City Fire Department respond to smoke in apartment, find dead person inside
Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies responded Wednesday afternoon to a report of a fire inside a unit at the Senator Apartments, 555 Roop Street. When first responders arrived, they found an adult male deceased inside.
Shortly before 2:30 p.m. Carson City dispatch was advised of a fire inside an apartment. First responders on scene reported light smoke from the residence and a smoke detector going off. An apartment manager had opened the door.
A Carson City Fire Department battalion chief on scene reported that a deceased person was located inside the apartment and noted it was a fire-related incident, according to dispatch.
The Carson City Sheriff's Office has responded and are redirecting people away from the area. Police tape was being put up around the apartment unit. Sheriff Ken Furlong said CCSO detectives have been called to the scene. The sheriff confirmed the deceased was an adult male.
