A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 8:30 a.m., in the 400 block of Winnie Lane on suspicion of felony attempt to prevent the reporting of a crime and misdemeanor domestic battery.

Lee Aaron Vaivai allegedly attacked his girlfriend of six years, lifting her off of a sofa by grabbing her head and hair, and throwing her to the ground, a Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy said.

Once on the floor, Vaivai is suspected of kicking the victim several times on the left side of her calf.

According to the arrest report, Vaivai then took this girlfriend's phone away, broke it and threw it in the toilet before fleeing the scene.

According to the arrest report, deputies could not locate the suspect initially and returned to the location several times until 8:30 a.m. at which time a family member of the suspect answered the door. Although the victim said Vaivai was not there the deputy states that he could here male and female voices from the bedroom.

The deputy went inside the bedroom and located Vaivai in the bathroom putting on his boots seemingly getting ready to leave.

According to the victim, during the struggle and the physical altercation when Vaivai realized the victim was calling 911 he grabbed the phone from her and broke it.
