Carson City sheriff’s arrest log: Three jailed, stolen car recovered
Three people were arrested Sunday afternoon in the area of Highway 50 East and Lompa Lane on multiple charges associated with the theft of a car, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested were Stephen Theodore, 29, of Carson City on a felony charge of grand larceny of a motor vehicle, gross misdemeanor possession of burglary tools, and five misdemeanor charges: possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, driving without a valid license, evading and possession of stolen property. The second suspect, Robyn Clifford, 31 of Reno, was arrested for felony violation of parole and probation. An 18-year-old Sparks man was also arrested on a single misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to the booking report, deputies were called to the 3200 block of Retail Drive at around 1:20 p.m. Sunday regarding a stolen 1998 Mitsubishi with a blue hood. Dispatch alerted deputies to be on the look out for the vehicle.
At around 2:05 p.m. a deputy stated to dispatch that he was with a vehicle matching the description. He advised the vehicle had failed to stop while he had his emergency lights and siren activated, according to the arrest report. Several deputies responded to the area of North Lompa Lane and Highway 50 East.
The man who originally reported the vehicle as stolen identified the car as his. A records check verified the vehicle was his but the keys that were in the ignition did not belong to him, the arrest report states.
Deputies had the three suspects from the vehicle detained and in the back of their assigned patrol vehicles. At the time the vehicle was stopped, suspect Theodore was in the driver’s seat, Clifford was seated in the front passenger seat and the 18-year-old Sparks suspect was in the left rear passenger seat.
Dispatch advised the Department of Parole and Probation wanted Robyn Clifford arrested for violating her probation. She was taken into custody. A deputy performed a vehicle inventory and located a white rag with a glass pipe on the left rear passenger floor where the 18-year-old was sitting, the arrest report states.
The deputy located a magnet strip with allen wrenches inside the center console of the vehicle. The wrench handles were filed to resemble pry bars. Deputies seized the items with the keys from the ignition and booked them into evidence, the arrest report states.
Inside the vehicle was a black backpack containing a card from a casino with Theodore’s name on it. The backpack also consisted of glass pipes that tested positive for methamphetamine, a small bag of marijuana and various burglary tools, the arrest report states. A records check showed Theodore did not have a valid driver’s license. He was taken into custody. A test of the glass pipe that was located on the left passenger floor where the 18-year-old was sitting tested positive for methamphetamine. He was taken into custody on suspicion of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
A stereo from a different stolen vehicle was located and a deputy made contact with the owners of the stolen vehicle and they positively identified it as their stereo. Theodore was also charged with possession of stolen property for the stereo. All three suspects were taken to jail. Bail amount of Stephen: $30,385. Clifford is being held without bail in lieu of a hearing. Bail for the 18-year-old Sparks man, $1,137.
