Carson City arrests: Witness sees woman throw coin purse with drugs in bushes during traffic stop
A 56-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of three counts possession of meth and three counts possession of drug paraphernalia, a Carson City sheriff's booking report states.
Tawnja Charmayne Finley was taken into custody at 11:56 a.m. According to the arrest report, a deputy conducted a traffic stop on an unregistered vehicle in the 1400 block of South Carson Street.
During the traffic stop, the driver gave the officer consent to search the vehicle. The officer searched both the driver and passenger, Finley. The officer did not locate any narcotics and the two were released from the scene with a warning.
Dispatch later advised that a witness to the traffic stop observed Finley throw an item out the window during the stop. The witness stated he watched the passenger throw a black coin purse out of the passenger window while the officer was searching the driver for weapons, the arrest report states.
The witness noticed the officer did not see the item thrown. After the officer let them go with the warning, the witness noticed the passenger of the vehicle return to the location, where he saw the passenger look through bushes adjacent to where the passenger side of the vehicle was parked, the arrest report states.
The witness called dispatch and advised them of the situation and observed the passenger walk to the parking lot of a restaurant.
Officers located the subject matching the description in a nearby parking lot. The officer asked Finley to place her purse on the ground next to her. She was detained. The officer noticed a loaded hypodermic needle fall from her left hand onto the ground next to her. She was arrested for the suspected methamphetamine that was loaded in the hypodermic needle. The officer also noted the woman was also holding a black eyeglass case in her left hand.
The officer located a purple tooter straw with meth residue as well as a blue and white "tooter" straw with meth residue. A "tooter" straw is a device commonly used to inhale narcotics. Also located were two used hypodermic devices and a blue rubber tourniquet. While searching the woman's purse, the officer located a clear case containing multiple empty small zip-lock bags, the report states.
The deputy returned to the area where the witness stated the woman threw a black coin purse. Located inside were two tooter straws with meth residue, and 2 small zip-lock bags of marijuana and a marijuana pipe, the report states.
At jail the woman stated she he had what she thought was an empty ziplock bag on her person. The ziplock contained 0.4 grams of meth, a cotton ball and a hypodermic needle. Total bail amount listed: $10,911.

— A 38-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 600 block of Hot Springs Road for suspicion of misdemeanor domestic battery.
According to the arrest report, deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic battery. Officers met with the victim who had blood coming from her nose. The victim stated she and the suspect got into a verbal argument and that the man was yelling at her in an aggressive manner, and that she pushed him away. She stated the man grabbed her head and hit her in the face with his knee and struck her with his fist.
The officer could smell a strong odor of alcohol from the woman as she spoke and she admitted to drinking earlier in the night. The officer observed blood spatter on a wall, the arrest report states.
Officers spoke with the man who stated that the female was getting out of control during the argument and that she came after him, telling him to get out of her face, the report states.
He stated that he lunged forwarded at the same time in an attempt to get away from her and that the bill of his hat struck the victim in the nose and caused her to bleed.
The female stated the man was not wearing a hat during the altercation. Deputies were unable to locate any blood or signs of injury on the man. He was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
— A 30-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday, 8:51 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Carson Street for suspicion of obstructing and resisting.
According to the booking report, deputies responded to a fast food restaurant regarding a threats report. Dispatch advised employees stated an irate subject at the drive through window threatening staff. They described the man and advised he was drinking a bottle of vodka and was highly intoxicated.
A deputy arrived and advised she was with the subject who was being uncooperative. The man refused to sit on the ground when order to do so. Another deputy arrived and asked him several times to sit down. The man continued to refuse and wouldn't comply. Deputies began to detain him, in which he actively resisted. He was arrested. Bail: $764.
— A 40-year-old Stagecoach woman was arrested Tuesday in the area of East Long and Stewart Street for a misdemeanor criminal contempt warrant issued in September out of Wadsworth Township. Bail: $365.
