Carson City deputies make arrests for meth possession, warrants

A 55-year-old woman was arrested early Thursday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (suspected methamphetamine, 28 grams) and other offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Tina Marie Smith, listed from Sacramento, was taken into custody at 2:36 a.m. She was also booked for suspicion of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving with a revoked license, both misdemeanor offenses.
According to the booking report, a deputy observed a U-haul pickup going northbound on Carson Street, failing to make a turn signal into a parking lot while a deputy was behind the vehicle.
The officer made contact with the driver and asked if she could provided a license. The woman acted as if she were hiding something, turning her back and used a blanket to cover things up within the vehicle, the report states.
She was asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle. The woman replied yes and was asked if it was methamphetamine and she replied yes. She was asked how much was in the vehicle and she told the deputy it was enough to get her by for the month, the arrest report states.
A K-9 was deployed and conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle, and alerted positive for drugs. The deputy conducted a probable cause search and inside located an eye glass case with a large amount of methamphetamine, and 2 glass methamphetamine pipes.
The deputy looked in the center console and located a canvas bag that had a glass methamphetamine bong inside. The evidence was collected and booked it into an evidence vault. Bail: $5,000.
In other arrests:
— A 59-year-old man was arrested Tuesday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) and other alleged offenses.
Calvin Dupont was taken into custody at 6:51 a.m. in the 500 block of North Carson Street. He was also booked for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing.
According to the booking report, deputies were called to a casino for a report of a man who refused to leave and was being aggressive toward staff.
Deputies arrived and made contact with Dupont, who was standing at the bar. The man spoke softly, attempted to change the topic of conversation and said his hands were cold and he didn't want to leave, the report states.
Staff advised they wanted the man trespassed from the business. The deputy told Dupont he was not allowed on the property and needed to leave. The man stated he wished to go to jail and refused to leave. He was placed under arrest for trespassing.
During a search the deputy located a green plastic egg in his coat pocket, which contained 2.6 grams of suspected methamphetamine. In the other coat pocket the deputy located a zippered pouch that contained a used hypodermic syringe, several cotton filters and a glass pipe with white burn marks, which are consistent with use of methamphetamine. Bail: $3,879.
— A 37-year-old Reno man was booked Wednesday for two misdemeanor warrants issued Sept. 12, 2022. Bail: $2,475.
— A 47-year-old Reno woman was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail for a misdemeanor warrant issued Sept. 12, 2022. Bail: $3,000 cash.
