Carson City deputy stops driver for fictitious plates, man tells officer he doesn't need to be registered
Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies arrested a 37-year-old man Monday for misdemeanor suspicion of obstructing, driving without a valid license, driving on a revoked license, no proof of insurance, fictitious registration and being an ex-felon failing to register.
According to the arrest report, a Carson City sheriff's deputy made a traffic stop on a van driving southbound on Carson City at Hot Springs Road that had fictitious license plates.
The man pulled into an East Long Street business and got out of the vehicle with a file folder in his hand, walked up to the officer and stated "I want you to know I am fear for my life and shaking due to you stopping me," the arrest report states.
The officer asked the man about the vehicle registration and the man said he did not have to register the vehicle as he does not drive on a roadway, the arrest report states.
During the investigation the officer learned the man's name and that he had a revoked license out of Wisconsin. He was not able to provide any proof of insurance or a valid registration. Further investigation through dispatch showed he had a criminal history in five states and no valid license and several non-extraditable warrants for his arrest.
Dispatch advised he had several arrest for felonies and had not registered within any county in the state of Nevada as an ex-felon. He was taken into custody for the alleged misdemeanor offenses. Bail amount listed: $2,332.
In other arrests:
— A 68 year-old man, Daniel Richard Brown, was arrested early Tuesday for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance, a felony, and misdemeanor no proof of insurance and driving with expired registration.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report, a deputy made a traffic stop after observing a vehicle traveling north on Lompa Lane that didn't have rear license plates.
The man identified himself with a California driver's license. The officer advised him the reason for the stop. He was only able to provide the officer his license and stated he hadn't paid the insurance, the report states.
The officer checked for wants and warrants and the VIN on the vehicle, which returned expired as of Sept. 20, 2020. The officer observed the man keep reaching toward the floor of the vehicle. The officer asked the man to exit the vehicle, where the officer did a pat down for weapons. The officer asked the man if he could search the vehicle. The man stated he didn't care, the report states.
The officer located foil with methamphetamine wrapped in a ball form between the driver seat and center console. It was later weighed and amounted to around 2.4 grams, the report states. He was arrested. He was read his Miranda rights and agreed to speak, saying what the officer found did not belong to him. He stated he believes someone else had placed the item under the seat. Total bail amount listed: $3,309.
— A 34-year-old man, Javier Flores Valtierra, was arrested Monday for suspicion of parole and probation violation, a felony, and two misdemeanor counts of drug paraphernalia. No bail hold for the parole and probation violation.
— A 28-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Tuesday for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant, suspicion of misdemeanor driving on a revoked license for DUI and not having activated headlights or rear running lights. Bail: $10,000 bondable for the failure to appear warrant issued Dec. 30 out of Carson City Justice Court.
