Carson City Sheriff’s Office Joins Forces to crack down on impaired drivers this Super Bowl weekend
Over the next two weeks and this coming Super Bowl weekend, Carson City residents can expect to see double or even triple the normal law enforcement presence.Carson City Sheriff’s Office has joined forces with law enforcement agencies statewide to crack down on impaired driving, and has an important message for the public: if you’ll be drinking, designate a sober driver, and if you drive impaired, you will be arrested.
The Carson City Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the citizens of Carson City of the dangers of Impaired Driving. In addition to alcohol, prescription medications can also impair your driving. Please read the warning labels on your prescriptions and abide by them. Risking a DUI is not worth the expense or humiliation.
Please enjoy the big game on Sunday. When your friend or family member politely explains to you that you’ve had too much to drink. Please listen to them and please do not get behind the wheel. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office will be out in force looking for you, the impaired driver.
Increasing law enforcement presence during these weeks supports the overall state goal of reaching Zero Fatalities. Carson City residents can help us reach that goal by following these safety guidelines:
— Designate a sober driver before drinking;
— Use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member or use public transportation if impaired;
— Take advantage of local sober ride programs;
— Call 911 if a drunk driver is spotted on the road;
— Take the keys or assist in making other arrangements for someone who is about to drive or ride while impaired.
