Nevada provides new way for employers to verify OSHA cards

Employers in Nevada whose industries require employees to hold a valid OSHA construction or general industry card now have a new way to verify employee’s OSHA cards.
Per new regulations outlined in Assembly Bill 290, the State of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations and the Nevada Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) have implemented updates to NV1030.org that allow employers to verify OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour Construction and General Industry card holders for OSHA cards issued in Nevada after Jan. 1, 2020.
Previously, NV1030.org was used by employers and employees to find authorized OSHA 10-hour and 30-hour trainers, but the site now includes functionality for employers to verify the status of employee OSHA cards.
These changes come after the passage of Assembly Bill 290, which includes several updates to Nevada’s safety industry. To fully comply with Assembly Bill 290, all authorized 10- and 30-hour trainers in Nevada must register on NV1030.org. In addition, trainers are now required to upload course completion information to the site’s database effective Jan. 1, 2020. It is important to note that older cards may not be verifiable through this system, but they may still be valid. Cards issued before Jan. 1, 2020 must be verified by contacting the cardholders issuing institution.
“These new website functionalities will make it easier than ever for employers to verify the status of their employee’s OSHA cards issued after January 1, 2020,” said SCATS Chief Administrative Officer, Todd Schultz. “The ability to find a trainer and verify the status of 10- and 30-hour card holders will help improve the safety of thousands of Nevadans.”
As a secondary resource to verify OSHA cards issued before January 1, 2020, some OSHA Training Institutes (OTI) offer the ability to verify online. To verify a card on one of these sites, employers must know the name on the card, the card number and the date the card was issued. Currently, there are six OTI centers that allow cards issued in the past several years to be verified:
