Weather Service cancels Winter Storm Warning; replaces it with Winter Weather Advisory
With mostly rain falling around Carson City this morning and afternoon, the National Weather Service in Reno has canceled its Winter Storm Warning, replacing it with a Winter Weather Advisory until 4 a.m. Monday for Carson City, Carson Valley, Reno-Sparks and Virginia City areas.
Bands of moderate rain or a mix of rain and snow will develop after 4 p.m. and transition to all snow this evening behind a cold front. The weather service advises an additional 2 to 5 inches of snow may fall, with snow levels dropping to 4,500 to 5,000 feet and then to the valley floors. A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 4 a.m. Monday for Lake Tahoe and much of the Sierra.
