Capital, Legislature quiet in Carson City as America ushers in new presidency
Despite concerns of civil unrest to coincide with the inauguration of a new president Wednesday morning, downtown Carson City was quiet as Joe Biden was sworn into office.
President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris took their oaths in Washington, D.C. Wednesday, and the presidency was transferred at 9 a.m. local time.
Law enforcement agencies were prepared this week for continued protests at the state capitol amid concerns of violence at all state capitols, but as 9 a.m. passed the street was silent. Soon after a handful of Trump supporters began to arrive, holding signs of dissent.
