Carson City sheriff’s deputies make drug and weapons related arrests

A 30-year-old Dayton man was arrested early Thursday in the 3800 block of Highway 50 East for felony suspicion of carrying a concealed weapon, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Shannon Ebernickel was taken into custody at 12:30 a.m. after deputies were called to a casino regarding subjects causing problems. Ebernickel was identified as wearing baggy clothing with numerous large sweatshirts.

The man was asked twice to remove his hands from his clothing. As a deputy attempted to do a pat down search, the man disclosed he had a handgun underneath his sweatshirt. He told the officer the handgun is normally open-carried but his clothing was concealing the weapon.

Deputies checked for wants and warrant through Carson City Dispatch. The suspect was not wanted for any outstanding crimes. It was confirmed he did not have a concealed weapons permit, the arrest report states.

The man also informed deputies he had a carbine-style rifle near the driver’s side door of the vehicle he was driving. He confirmed the rifle was unsecured and accessible to the public. Bail: $2,500.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the 1700 block of North Edmonds to assist with a restraining order for Giles, who was accused of battery on a male subject the day prior.

While speaking with the man regarding the restraining order the deputy observed the man’s 4-year-old daughter in the front passenger seat of the man’s vehicle. The man was asked if there was anything illegal inside the vehicle. Giles replied there wasn’t. A canine sniff of the vehicle had a positive alert. The vehicle was searched and deputies found a small plastic bag with methamphetamine on the passenger side floor mat within close proximity of where the child was sitting. Bail: $5,000.

A 32-year-old Fernley man with him was also arrested for misdemeanor suspicion of petit larceny and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the arrest report, a traffic stop was made for a vehicle that had suspended registration and no front license plate. Townsend’s license was suspended and he did not have proof of insurance. During a pat down search of the 32-year-old passenger, deputies discovered a methamphetamine pipe.

Upon further investigation, methamphetamine was found in the vehicle on the dash near the steering wheel, and a pair of pants and sunglasses from Walmart that was in the original packaging in which Walmart reported as being stolen. Bail for Townsend: $4,043. Bail for the 32-year-old: $1,494.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday, 8:25 p.m. in the 2200 block of Dori Way for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a residence regarding an intoxicated man who turned off the power in his home with several small children inside.

Two deputies arrived and saw the man pacing back and forth on the front lawn. A deputy asked to speak with him but the man refused. He called the officer a “faggot” and shouted that the officer needed to get out of his face. He also asked why there were 14 deputies on scene. The deputy informed the man there was only himself and another deputy.

The man became angry and clenched his fist. The deputy again asked if he would speak with them. The man shouted he was going to get his dog to attack the two officers and then walked back into the residence, the arrest report states. The man then later returned, without the dog and was detained. He shouted repeatedly he wanted a lawyer.

Through the investigation deputies learned the man shut off the power in the house and forcibly shoved a family member, threatening to choke him until he got into his room. The man was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.
