Winds take down fences, trees and limbs across capital city
Gusty winds from Saturday's storm knocked down fences, toppled trees and power lines in Carson City as seen in photos sent to Carson Now from readers.
The Brewery Arts Center also saw tree damage, according to its Facebook page and is asking for volunteers to help clear away debris.
NV Energy is working to restore power as quickly and safely as possible for affected customers, according to a news release Sunday morning. Additional resources are coming in from other NV Energy regions to assist crews already working.
Tree removal services have been working around the clock to remove trees that fell on local streets and in yards.
The outages were caused by the heavy wind throughout Northern Nevada during the evening and overnight. Northern Nevada experienced a nearly 18-hour high wind event. The wind damage includes both poles and wires down in multiple locations.
NV Energy customers can view and report outages online here. This page is updated regularly for reporting purposes as well. Go here for safety tips around downed power lines.
